Upon hearing the words ‘Good Housekeeping’, most of us fondly recall the vintage magazine covers of this iconic American women’s magazine. We remember the plethora of helpful beauty, fashion, cooking, gardening, health and home tips in each issue we could get our hands on. Good Housekeeping was always a favourite magazine of my aunts, and I recall leafing through their copies at the tender age of 8, enamoured by all the pretty models and the delicious food inside.
More recently though (yesterday, in fact), Associated Magazines launched the South African edition of Good Housekeeping, which is rather fabulous for us ladies. We now have access to a magazine that really speaks to South African women. A magazine that focuses on family, home, surviving and thriving at work and includes inspiring tips, clever ideas and affordable purchases in every sphere of a woman’s life.
The magazine is also available in an Afrikaans title, Goeie Huishouding, which seems to be the cherry on the top, however both titles are available digitally on iPad through Zinio at very competitive rates. Both Good Housekeeping and Goeie Huishouding have their own dedicated websites with links to subscribe to each title. Many cherries to top many desserts, here you’ll agree?
Get your hands on a copy of the first edition of the magazine, and you’ll be able to enter a stack of competitions for some amazing prizes. Garments from Heidi Klum’s spring capsule wardrobe excite me no end, and the potential to win Le Creuset anything makes me drool in anticipation of the dishes we’ll create together.
